Our Story
Our Story
We never set out to become breeders....
We never set out to become breeders....
In 2019, we brought home Sawyer, our very first German Shorthaired Pointer. At the time, we simply wanted a GSP to be part of our family and had no idea he would become the foundation of something much bigger.
As the years passed, our family grew. Some dogs came to us unexpectedly, some needed a second chance, and each one brought something unique into our lives. Then, almost unexpectedly, our first litter arrived—and everything changed. What began as a love for one incredible breed naturally grew into Uwharrie GSP.
Today, our mission is to raise healthy, well-socialized German Shorthaired Pointers that excel as loyal companions, active family dogs, and capable hunting partners. We are committed to preserving the intelligence, versatility, and temperament that made us fall in love with the breed while helping every puppy find the family that's right for them.
Our Philosophy
Our Philosophy
At Uwharrie GSP, our dogs are family first. Every dog in our program is loved, cared for, and given an active life filled with enrichment, exercise, and plenty of time outdoors.
We believe responsible breeding is about far more than producing beautiful puppies. It's about preserving sound structure, stable temperaments, natural ability, and the qualities that make the German Shorthaired Pointer such a versatile breed.
Every litter is raised with daily handling, early socialization, and attentive care from the moment they're born. Our goal is to give each puppy the best possible start in life and help prepare them for a smooth transition into their new home.
Whether one of our puppies grows up to be a hunting partner, an adventure companion, or a beloved family dog, we strive to produce confident, healthy, and well-rounded German Shorthaired Pointers that will be cherished for years to come.
